the Silver Lady
This 1964 Routemaster is unique in our fleet, being our only non-red vehicle. It was one of 25 selected to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Silver Jubilee in 1977, for which purpose it was painted silver for the summer. It now carries silver livery once more. The beautiful, lustrous finish has been obtained by application of a high quality metallic automotive paint.
The Silver Routemaster really turns heads as she travels, and is particularly appropriate for:
The maximum number of seated passengers is 64, although it can of course be used in conjunction with our red buses if you require more capacity.
Passengers board via the open platform at the rear, and may then either enter the lower saloon, or go up the spiral staircase to the top deck. The bus is refurbished internally including a public address system, and seats re-trimmed in the original style tartan moquette.
The Silver Routemaster is otherwise the same, and is priced the same, as our red Open Platform Routemasters.

A conductor is always provided; for passengers' safety, comfort and convenience. The conductor can issue souvenir tickets from a period mechanical ticket machine as an optional service.
Further historical information for the Silver Routemaster - SRM 7 - is available on our individual Open Platform Routemaster History Fact Sheets.
Since there is only one, please be aware that we may need to substitute a Silver Routemaster booking for a red Routemaster in the rare case of unexpected problems.
